COVID-19 PANDEMIC: MENTAL WELLNESS AND RESILIENCE OF ARIZONA NATIVE NATIONS

October 2020 - Present

The COVID-19 pandemic has proved to have a significant impact on many peoples mental wellness, especially populations that were hit the hardest, like the Native Nations in Arizona. This project, from NAU's Southwest Health Equity Research Collaborative, is aimed at learning about the impacts of COVID-19 on mental wellness, the resilience of different Native populations, and understanding the resources currently available to address these issues. I have worked on a team under Dr. Julie A. Baldwin to complete the asset mapping of six different tribes and will continue to analyze this data using GIS and spacial analysis.

HEALTH EDUCATION FOR HIGH SCHOOLERS IN CHEROKEE NATION

July 2020 - October 2020

Some high schools on reservations lack the resources to provide sexual health and mental wellness education. I worked under Dr. Julie A. Baldwin and NAU Center of Health Equity Research to create modules that reflected this learning. These modules where then sent to high schools in Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma to distribute to high school students.
